A solar freezer typically takes 3 to 4 times as much energy to continuously operate versus a solar refrigerator.  Energy efficient design requires some different thinking from conventional design.  This is one of the reasons that SunDanzer solar freezers are chest units rather than conventional upright.  When you open the lid, the cold air does not run out on your toes.

SunDanzer direct current (DC) freezers are specifically designed for high efficiency and low energy consumption to operate on the smallest possible energy input from a solar energy system, micro-turbine, wind generator, fuel cell or battery.

SunDanzer also has a 115 VAC power supply option.

The  chest walls and floor are super insulated with 4.3 inches (11 centimeters) of high density polyurethane insulation.  The refrigeration unit features a zero maintenance brushless thermostatically controlled compressor.  The design does not use any interior or exterior fans.
